Step 4: You have completed your submission, so what happens now?

You will receive confirmation about your submission on the IRISS site under “Current State” located on the top left-hand corner of the page.

For Minimal Risk projects:

Feedback is given through IRISS if there are any revisions, requested by the committee, that need to be made. All revisions are made directly through the IRISS portal.

For Above Minimal Risk projects:

After the committee has met and has reviewed your application, you will receive feedback through IRISS. This feedback includes any revisions that need to be made to the application. All revisions are made directly through the IRISS portal.

A project needing full board review will often require the researcher to come speak to the board about the proposed study. This meeting is an opportunity for the researcher to discuss their study, and for the board to ask questions and provide feedback or voice any concerns they have with the project.

Following the completion of your application (with revisions, if necessary) you will receive an email with a link to inform you if you have confirmation of ethics approval. The confirmation appears under the “Current State” section of the page. Once this status is achieved, you have officially completed the ethics approval process and can proceed to conducting your SoTL research project!
