If you’d like to delve more deeply than this brief guide, I have a couple of recommendations. 

1. First, read the work of those in the field.  Where do you start?  In 2016, asked colleagues “If you were putting together a SoTL primer of 1 to 10 titles to introduce colleagues to the field, what would you include?” and received 22 lists.  (Read about the process here.) Based on these responses, I identified the Top 10 Citations and the Top 10 Short Pieces.

2. Read SoTL in Action: Illuminating Critical Moments of Practice (Chick, 2018) for a series of brief chapters that describe progressive moments in doing SoTL.  

3. Check out some of the published books on doing SoTL, such as these:
